Popular profession worldwide
The profession you have chosen is popular not just in Latvia, but in all parts of the world. There is a constant deficit of appropriate candidates for the highest posts, such as captain or chief engineering officer, in every fleet of the world.
Good remuneration
The profession of a seafarer pays extremely well. From the very beginning of your career as a seaman or a motorman you will earn ~ 1700 euros per month. The salary of a captain sometimes reaches even 10 000 euros per month! All this money will stay in your personal pocket, as accommodation and meals onboard are free of charge.
Shortest time for acquiring the profession
After 3 months of theoretical training and 3 months of internship, you will obtain your first professional qualification and start earning. Half a year is enough to understand if this profession is your true vocation. Besides you will not have spent too much time and means if you understand that this profession is not for you after all.
Flexible tuition fee payment terms
A training course costs approximately 700 LVL. However, you can arrange that your tuition fee will be paid by your employer. Or else you can pay it by instalments, some of them even coming from your first salary. For more information about these opportunities contact us.
Work as much as you want!
Being a seafarer means that normally you will be employed on a contract basis. Therefore you can always choose how much time you want to spend at work (onboard) and how much time – at home.
Great career opportunities
As soon as you have completed your training, you can start earning money and continue your education by correspondence at Liepāja Maritime College or Latvian Maritime Academy if you wish to. After graduation from one of these higher educational establishments you will be able to apply for higher posts and reach the highest point of career – the post of a captain – in 5-7 years.
Genuinely practical knowledge and skills
Training courses are aimed at learning practical skills therefore you can start working as soon as you have completed the training. These skills will also prove useful if you choose to continue your studies at a higher educational establishment. Remember – a good captain always understands the work of a seaman perfectly, and a good chief engineering officer can do the job of a motorman with his own hands.

The routes of trade fleets are very diverse. While working as a seafarer, you will definitely cross all the oceans of the world, see almost all the continents and visit incredibly many seaport towns in your free time.

The profession of a seafarer may not exactly correspond to what they show in movies, but it still is romantic and very masculine. It is an opportunity to travel exotic seas and lands, perform special rituals, like the one crossing the equator for the first time. But you will have to become a seafarer first to learn more!
